Dacia, Renault’s low cost car brand, has revealed the 2014 Dacia Duster facelift. The SUV will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, scheduled to be held early next month. The facelifted version of the Duster could go on sale in the international market by the end of this year. For India, the 2014 Auto Expo could prove to be a good place for Renault to unveil and launch the facelifted model of the Duster.
Also, the Dacia badging will be replaced by Renault badging for the Indian car market. The 2014 Duster facelift features new headlamps, tail lamps, front grille, new bumpers and scuff plates, a chrome exhaust tip and 16 inch alloy wheels. This is pretty much the round up of the visual changes that the released images reveal. On the interiors, the 2014 Duster could step up quality levels as the current model’s insides have come under criticism for being too basic.
Engines and transmission details are not revealed yet but we think that Renault will retain the current petrol and turbo diesel engines as the facelift is merely a mid-life refresh. The Dacia Duster is badged a Renault in India and the SUV comes with 1 petrol engine and two turbo diesel engine options. All engines get manual gearboxes. In India, the Duster has been badge engineered into the Nissan Terrano, an SUV that’ll go on sale in October.
The Renault Duster is looking overpriced in the Indian car market after Ford stunned car buyers with a cracking price tag for the EcoSport crossover. So, a facelifted version of the Duster, with added features and revamped features could do its bit to boost sales of this SUV in India. Even though Renault could launch the facelifted Duster in 2014, prices may remain unchanged as any further increase may only make the going tougher for the SUV.
