On 15 Oct 2013, I paid cash down for a Sony KDL 32W600A Smart TV from Viveks Adyar, Chennai. Believe it or not it stopped working entirely on 28th Oct 2013. Called Sony support. They sent a technician from their support outfit called CTech to attend to the fault. Technician examined the TV and said some serious internal problem with the TV and stated that since it failed in less than a month Sony will replace the TV. Now starts the nightmare, I call Sony support at 1800 103 7799 and for more than a week try to get them to committing to a plan of action regarding the same. They would not commit themselves to anything, claiming the management has to decide the issue and I should await the reply and no timeline was given either. So I took the dead TV and returned it to Viveks on 9th Nov 2013. The manager there told me he will replace the TV the same evening and did so. Since the warranty requires that only a Sony technician should install and demo the TV I waited till the 11th Nov 2013 evening for the CTech technician to come and install the replacement TV. On the 14th Nov 2013 morning as I was watching the TV it went off all on its own suddenly. It came on briefly and again went off just like the previous one is dead entirely. Cannot be switched on at all. This time I did not bother to call Sony Support at all after my terrible experience the first time around. I called Viveks and told them to deal with it. They registered a call with Sony Support and after much chasing a CTech technician showed up and condemned the set to the same previous problem and told me that it needs to be replaced. There was a new problem though. The serial on the TV and the its warranty card did not match. On asking the Viveks manager he said he would'deal' with it. I have a feeling they fobbed off some TV returned to them to mollify me for the first TV's failure. A defective one perhaps. Sony India will give no commitment to its customers whatsoever when they have to support their products. Their Facebook page is full of complaints like mine with many of them facing the fine art of stonewalling they seem to have in place. SO PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING A SONY PRODUCT IT COULD TURN OUT TO BE ONE OF THE WORST DECISIONS YOU CAN MAKE.
