Qualified as an Electonics engineer it has been books on poetry that has always kept him company. ALOK RANJAN JHA an exuberant young man in his early thirties is an encyclopaedia on the works of the Urdu and Hindi legends of poetry from Emir Khusroo to Gulzar. This helped him make his first mark in professional writing when while working in a big telecom company he was selected as a Radio Jockey for AIR. A friend of his then introduced him to Musicologist Mr Manohar Iyer who took Alok under his tutelage and harnessed his talent of writing and helped him understand the relationship between music and words and under his guidance the journey from a Urdu and Hindi poetry enthusiast to himself becoming a poet or lyricist started. Manohar Iyer ji introduced him to music composer Santosh Nair. With this assosciation started Alok’s foray into mainstream Hindi music with ghazal albums, folk songs to film songs being penned by him . His work has been sung by the greatest legends of Ghazal singers in India including Bhupinder singhji, Mitali Singh, Pankaj Udas,Ashok Khosla and many young talents too. Currently Alok is working with one of the biggest companies in producing film and non film music Crescendo and in the coming days we will see many young talents belting out hit numbers written by him.
