I am sorry to start off by saying that our Youth has started becoming 'Non Committing" to anything and everything in their lives. Be it, career, family, parents or even job for that matter. Small town guys and gals are good in their locations, but completely transform when they venture out to a new location. Ok. No Moral Science. Its not a documentary and just commercial science. After all censor board has passed it.
Songs are superb, infact hats off to Maneesh and Jaideep duo. I was listening to their interview today, they were not the 1st choice for this film, but they have proved themself. Their earlier composition in the movies FALTU, Ramaiya Vastavaya and others are super. Pareeniti who earlier signed off for a three movie series is now in the thrid film and I'm sure with this stellar performance she is even for more films under the same banner. Shushant lack the fenace with mee-too experessions and dialogue. He couldn't handle some of the wackiest dialogues in the film. One I liked, that he completely spoilt
"Agar Ankhon pe control nahin, to Dil pe bhi nahin hoga,
Aur agar dil pe control nahin to uska Life pe bhi nahin hota"
With her Bollywood debut Tara has matched the passion of her co-star and has been good from the 1st screen. Satire is very difficult to do, but she has managed it well across the film. Goel saab is an essential thread between the love triangle and he stands firm with his tongue and cheek comments and shudh desi expressions - 'sari pareshaani is jeb ke pappu ki hain' - I know its cheeze ;), and a typical Rajasthani seth. Picturisation, location, cinematography is Yashraj banner’s trade mark. And the director Maneesh Sharma has carried it from his previous assignments like Band Baja Baraat, Lady Vs. Ricky Bahl. However, in the 2nd half director was completely lost about the end. And the movie closes with 'slit in the door" - :) I know confusing, watch it.
I regret coming back to the moral issue with the film. I believe as a director, producer it’s my responsibility to leave a good message. And here the message hammers on the point of non-commitment. And in the end, it was way too much when it screens a boy and a girl in their pre-teens holding on to non-commitment and running away from a relationship. I am not sure what's in store for the future when basic relationships are non-committing. Moreover, 27 kisses during the movie doesn't make it a hot cake it makes it a Soft Porn. A bathroom as a scape rocket is too corny that has been overdone to death. After Chak De from the same banner, this cannot be accepted given any standards.
My rating to the movie is Average and not a WOW. Though, 20 crore budgets and Rs. 6.5 crore first day sale is a worthy number in terms of ROI.
