What a wonderful trip to Kerala! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Kerala could be so much fun!
Took a 3 nights - 4 days package tour in Dec 2007. Visited Munnar - Alleppey - Cochin.
Stayed at Hotel Sienna Village in Munnar. Some 20 kms from Munnar town. Enjoyed the drive to town and back. Loved the sights .Tasted the homemade chocolated. They simply melt in your mouth.Bought some momentos like Kathkali mask, boat etc. for family & friends.Purchased some spices. Also, some plants from a nursery there. The plants are growing in our balcony garden.
Our room, at the hotel, was like the one they show in typical Hindi films. The huge french windows. The never ending long curtains. All opening into the hotel garden lawn.
Being 24th Dec, in the evening, Santa Claus came into our room with Christmas cake and wine. During dinner time there was a bonfire, DJ, music & local dance performances.Did make the stay pretty special. The bonfire, music, dances happen at the hotel all through the year it seems. Checked out the same.
The next day at Alleppey, the backwater cruise , was something out of this world! The Kerala cuisine the cook served was also delicious. Mmmm!
Lastly, we visited the museum at Cochin.Purchased the famous Kerala chips. Enjoyed the Kerala sadya as well. It is a complete Kerala vegetarian meal made during special occassions like Vishu & Onam. Also, the coconut water is quite refreshing. One coconut is more than enough for 2.
Took so many boat rides all through the journey. Each had its own thrill. We are definitely visiting Kerala again.
Was an expensive trip. Planned at the last moment. Spent more on airfare too. What with the holiday surcharges and all, being Christmas time. Believe me, it was POORA PAISA VASOOL!
Our trip was very well organised and comforatble. Moreover, we had the best time of our lives! The driver was also reliable. He guided us throughout the tour.
If u plan the trip early u can get discounts on the package as well as airfare. Our tour cost was Rs. 23000/- for couple including accomodation, sight seeing, transportation (indica), backwater cruise, meals.
