Bentley used Beijing International Automotive Show as the platform for unveiling its new ‘Hybrid Concept’.
The new plug-in hybrid system of this car improved power by almost 25% and decreases emissions by 70% with a driving range of minimum 50 km on only electric power, according to a company statement.
The new hybrid concept of Bentley is based on Mulsanne, the luxury automaker’s £225,000 flagship model. At the show’s press conference, Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, the CEO and chairman of Bentley Motors said, “Adding performance and efficiency with no compromise to luxury –Plug-in hybrids are an important part of Bentley’s exciting future. We are proud to be pioneering these developments in the ultra luxury sector.”
Emphasizing on the commitment of the company to plug-in hybrid models, the automaker promised to launch a plug-in hybrid sports ute in 2017 and make at least 90% of its vehicles available as plug-in hybrids by this decade end.
The disclosure of this news by the carmaker in Beijing shows the significance of the Chinese market for the future of Bentley.
