People who have one or more missing teeth can experience a lack of sel-esteem, reluctance to smile, difficulty chewing food and not being understood properly when they speak. This doesn’t have to be the case, since missing teeth can easily be filled in with dental bridges and have the patient smiling again in no time.
What is a Dental Bridge?
When a patient has a gap between teeth, a dental bridge is the device that is created to fill that gap. It has one or more artificial teeth attached to it and will be placed in the patient’s mouth to complete their smile. Dental bridges are affixed permanently to the patient’s natural teeth that have been previously prepared with dental crowns, so long as the remaining teeth are healthy enough to withstand having a crown place on them. If the neighboring teeth are not strong enough, a dental bridge procedure may not be right for the patient and the dentist can suggest other alternatives. https://www.dentalfit.co.in
The Process of Having a Dental Bridge Implanted
Assuming that the patient’s remaining teeth are healthy enough and he or she wishes to proceed with getting a dental bridge, the first thing that will happen is the dentist will remove enamel and dentin from teeth on either side of the missing tooth. The next step is for the dentist to take an impression of the patient’s smile. This will ensure that the bridge will fit seamlessly into the patient’s mouth. Once the impressions are completed, they will be sent to a dental lab for creation of a dental bridge.
After the dental bridge has returned from the lab, the teeth on either side of the gap will be crowned and the new dental bridge will be permanently attached to them. The entire process of being measured for and fitted with a dental bridge can be done in two or three appointments.
Benefits of Wearing a Dental Bridge
In addition to the obvious cosmetic benefits, patients who wear a dental bridge will enjoy improved speech clarity, decreased risk of gum disease and on overall improvement in oral health.
