(Pease read Part - 1, before reading this diary...Thanks)
When we came out of Nairobi airport, as we couldn't find my friend, I contacted the Hotel that he mentioned to me. They arranged a cab for us and took us to their hotel (I vaguely remember as Hotel Ambassador) and we checked in. After leaving my family in the room I came down to the reception....when the lift door opened I found my friend at the reception! As per his suggestion we postponed our booking by one day, to compensate the fun that we lost in airport/flight. We quickly got ready and were ready to go for safari....my friend gave two choices....one rant a 8-seater single propelled plane to fly over the National park and have close look of the animals without any fear or rent a car and drive through the forest and see all animals and birds. I preferred the 2nd choice driving through the forest (after experiencing our bad experince by flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi!). Here I have to mention that Nairobi looked almost like London, and all Kenyans including waiters and drivers spoke fluent English (much better than me!). When we were ready, my friend surprised us with Benz car waiting for us!! We all got inside the car...before starting the driver advised us to 'ease' ourselves, as we would not be able to get out as we like, as wild animals might attack at any place! When we entered the park gate....oh my God what a nice view....Ostrich the first one to welcome us and was running before us as fast as we could drive! The car passed through the long neck of Giraffes standing on both sides of the roads. We saw lot of lions, tigers etc., even lion attacking the wild goats. There were some places only marked as that we can come out of car and watch the animals...other places we were not supposed to stop. Let me stop with this and explain the interesting part of this tour!We saw about 10 feet long King Cobra (Python?) crossing the road. The driver stopped the car and waited for the Cobra to cross. He started the car when the King Cobra almost crossed 95% of the road. But the driver ran over the tail of the cobra. Wow...the cobra got angry and stood flared out its iconic hood and emit a bone-chilling hiss that sounded almost like a growling dog. It was trying to hit our car's back wind shield. My second son 3years old saw the scene, scared...dirtied the back seat! The driver, immediately accelerated from the place and was looking for a place to claean the back seat, my son and my wife's saree. As we couldn'd find any place.....(do not park....you may be attacked by wild animals boards only we could see!). We litterally begged the driver to park somewhere as my son stated having 'loose motion'. He obliged, we quickly cleaned the seat and my son......within few minutes we heard sound from an helecopter flying close to our car roof and shouting.....'get inside the car a fleet of Lions are close-by looking for their pray! We jumped inside the car and drove off from that place. But without loosing our interest we successfully complered our wonder sight seeing. We returned to the hotel safe. Praise the Lord!
I will continue the 3 rd part about thrilling experience in Kenya on the next day and experience in our flight Nairobi-Bombay-Madras.
Sorry...I am too old to type the whole lot in one diary. Part -3 will be soon follow.
