I think we all know about Paytm Mall. Variety of products, Lower prices, luscious cashback offers, brand name of the mighty "PAYTM". Sounds way too good right?

We all get attracted to those cashback offers but you may have no idea how they are able to provide products at such cheap prices. The price is not the only thing Cheap here. In the end, they also want to earn profits or there is no point of running a business. Here's how they use your money to cover up for the losses they get from cashbacks:

Suppose, you purchased a laptop from Paytm Mall for Rs. 20,000. To get the promised cashback you must pay via debit or credit cards. This is where their earning begins. You paid Rs. 20,000 via debit card. Your order is placed with the seller(That's what they want you to believe). The money is actually invested in any short-term investment plan. Due date for dispatch is 2 or 3 days ahead.

Fast Forward to 4th day. You'll get a message that dispatch is delayed due to issue at seller's end. Now, if you contact the seller here(if you're lucky enough to find their contact details) and ask them about the reason for delay, they'll simply tell you that the product is already at the Paytm Mall warehouse. What a nice blame game. If the product is already at their warehouse, why dispatch is delayed?

Now, when our hard earned money which they invested, generates enough revenue to cover up for the loss by cashback offer, "Your product is finally dispatched" via a pathetic courier service(Just pray it isn't the almighty Blue Dart) . Now if you're unlucky enough to get it shipped via Blue Dart, my condolence for you. You're about to wait a lot longer than you imagined.

First of all, Blue Dart never ships on time. Expect delay of 4 to 5 days from the expected delivery date. If by the God's grace, your order arrives at the nearest branch, they have no concern about delivery of your product. When the product is out for delivery, you'll get no intimation either via call or sms. Then, at night, they'll update the status as "Couldn't locate the address" . I suppose Blue Dart is hiring illiterate delivery persons who dont know how to read. How nice of them to provide employment to those people. Commendable

If you're lucky enough, you'll get the product delivered and it is authentic, which is quite a rare scenario with Paytm Mall.

Was all this suffering and headache worth the discounts given by Paytm Mall? I suppose, No.

Paytm Mall is only good for shopping for some low cost grocery items. Think twice about ordering something valuable from this "wannabe" e-Commerce company. They have no value for your hard-earned money.
