It was quite disheartening to read the Dantewada massacre of 72 CRPF jawans by Maoists. It was even more disheartening to note that most of these jawans have left behind a family with 3 to 4 kids with noone to support. Yes the death of these mens is tragic. Also no amount of money or anything can bring back the husband to the wife, son to parents or father to kids. But I am astonished to note that being in fighting force, aren't they aware of the risk they are facing. Isn't it their duty to ensure that their near and dear ones are made capable to live on their own even in their absence. Most of these jawans are the single bread winners of the family. Being in militrary why don't they think about making their wife self sufficient so that she can lead a respectable life and educate their kids and make them self reliant. Why can't they practice family planning. Nobody is telling we should not have kids but can't we limit to 2 per couple. when we decide to have them isn't our duty to ensure that they get a respectable life in future. Also don't they know it is the poverty that has helped in the growth of Maosists in the country of which they have become the victim. It is time the media also stop blaming the government alone for not taking care of jawans families. The jawans themselves have to be responsible to some extent for his family. He has to ensure that his wife takes up a vocation and she is financially independent. He has to limit his family to 2 kids. Unless the eduacted people don't follow these principles how can we expect the uneducated people in rural india to have family planning. It is time we understood the problem of population explosion. Without proper family planning India cannot be a global power.
