What is this? Does it happen only in office or work? This seems to be THE buzz word in the office these days. Especially in this bad economic times, one is expected to do multitasking.

But if we look in our own homes, this multitasking was happening in our homes since the time we were born. And it was done by none other than Mamma dear. Right from changing the gili chaddis (nappies weren’t there that time) of the crying baby, monitoring the tea or subji on gas at the same time, to answering the door bell for a sales woman and kataoing her immediately and getting the elder child ready for school or tuition, she used to everything at the same time. In the evenings, it was cooking dinner, making tea for husband who has come from office, taking homework of the elder child, speaking with baajuwali aunty through the side window, doing pooja, lighting the Dia for the Anganwali Tulasi in the evening and putting the younger one to sleep. Most of these things used to happen at the same time. And I feel there is no other better example of Multitasking.

I think I am also getting used to this multitasking now. I am enjoying a small peg of Bacardi, making a small one for Ratan, taking interest in Anandi’s story in Balika Vadhu, knowing some other characters of other soaps on Star Plus and Zee TV simultaneously, asking Vanita which character is what (good or bad), acting like a kind of arbitrator in the game of scrabble between Ratan and Vanita and writing this small note on Multitasking.

Boss, I think I am ready for multitasking. Can I get a raise in the salary now???
