Don’t stress out yourself by thinking over the issue of eatable, non-eatable, calories, nutrients, taste, etc. Reading too many pages on this will not lead you anywhere except a state of confusion and ambiguity.
As many types of bodies are there, so many type of diet plans need to be prepared. But nonetheless, few things are always generic(of course with several exceptions). Let me share some of such things with you.
Know your power foods
Always keep yourself ready with special power foods that are rich in power nutrients such as Yogurt, Lentils, Fortified milk, Salmon, Mango, Asparagus, Citrus fruits, etc.
Eat colorful
Pregnant ladies are under free radical hit practically all the time during pregnancy. Thus they need additional antioxidants to counter its effect. Antioxidants are available naturally in colorful fruits and vegetables. Eat fruits and vegetables salad in moderate quantities. This will fulfill your requirement of antioxidants.
Enrich your diet with folate
Folic acid is naturally found in food asparagus, spinach, pinto, lentils, edamame, beans, etc. Vitamin B is also a good source of folic acid found in citrus fruits and juices.
Need not to eat for two
Although you need nutrients for yourself as well as your child but still you needn’t eat for two. Challenge is to increase nutrient content in your diet with addition of just 300 calories. It sounds tough but it is not. Remove junk food and nutrient-less calories from your food and you can make it.
Remember, these are the generic things for a normally healthy pregnant lady. If you have any health issue, dont follow the above regime blindly. Consult your doctor or dietician before that.
Be an Iron-lady
Iron is a powerful nutrient. It improves blood count, body cells and immunity. It has a demonstrated effect on reducing many mild to severe birth dysfunctions and potential abnormalities.
Women who are already at the risk of birth abnormalities, are suggested pre-natals enriched with iron component.
Don’t delay prenatal supplements
Prenatal supplements are rich in the nutrients required for good growth of child in your womb. Some of the elements present are not available in general food but are very essential for you and your child.
Considering individual condition, an IVF expert may also refer you starting pre-natal medicines even when you are trying to conceive. It has its effect on that too.
Reduce caffeine consumption
Caffeine has its limited effect on heart beat of child. It can cause the unstable heart beat. However consumption within limits is OK say upto 250 mg/day.
Lessen alcohol
It is a well known fact that alcohol has bad effect on body metabolism as well as on the child in the womb. Even little consumption can be harmful to the embryo.
