Our common-sense tells us that it is not possible to predict the future in any way. But there are some absurdly accurate predictions by protagonists that unbelievably came true!


10) Robert Boyle


He foresaw that diseases could be cured from a distance and humans would transplant organs from one body to another. Both are in practice today.


9) Roger Ebert


Roger Ebert predicted HD, wide screen televisions, movies on demand.


In 1987, In an interview for Omni Magazine, the film critic, Roger Ebert was asked, “How will the competition between movies and TV shape up in the future”


Without a second though, he simply answered, “ We will have high-definition, wide-screen television sets and a push-button dialing system to order the movie you want at the time you want it.”


8) John Elfreth Watkins




  • In 1900, he made quite a few predictions which turned out very accurate as many of them are now a reality. Some of his predictions that came true are:




He said, "Photographs will be telegraphed from any distance. If there be a battle in China a hundred years hence, snapshots of its most striking events will be published in the newspapers an hour later. photographs will reproduce all of nature's colours."


Today we have internet, color printers and FAX.

Today most supermarkets provide ready-cooked meals.




  • Automobiles will be cheaper than horses.




We know this very well.


7) Robert Heinlein


In 1941, he predicted that soon a Cold War will start resulting in intense tension between two major powers with doomsday weapons. He also predicted water beds, 7 years before they were actually produced.


6) Jules Verne


In his novel “From The Earth To The Moon”, in 1865, Verne accurately envisioned the spaceships and landing of man on moon by US. He said that the astronauts will become weightless in space which is what actually happened.


5) Apple


In 1987, Apple predicted that there would be a touchscreen device, that could do video calls, and have a computerized assistant you could interact with, which would pull down data from a massive network.


Siri was released on iPhone in 2011.


4) Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick


In 1968, in a sci-fi movie named “2001: A Space Odyssey”, written by Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick, the actor can be clearly seen reading news on a flat, rectangular, touchscreen device much similar to the today's tablets.


Samsung used this in their defence during the copyright case with Apple.


3) Star Trek


Its unbelievable how somehow can predict future so accurately. Various Star Trek films and his books have quite a good track record of predicting real-life technological innovations. Many of the sci-fi gadgets from his film like the replicators that are used to create items resemble the 3D printers used, the comms system highly relates to the bluetooth and mobile technology.


2) H. G. Wells


Wells envisioned explosion of atomic bombs in his book'The World Set Free' in 1914, which actually happened after 30 years.


1) Ray Kurzwell


How would you feel if you get to know you are not going to die? Yes, this is possible if the predictions of Ray Kurzwell of artificial intelligence turns true. He has forecasted that by 2050 humans will be immortal by uploading their consciousness to computers.


He also predicted automated cars, wifi, Google glass and much more in 1998.
