For a long time, I have viewed Samajwadi Party as a mediocre poltical party lead by unremarkable individuals, lacking the charisma of more prolific parties such as the Congress & the BJP...certainly the best & most potential candidates seemed to prefer to associate with the latter parties...

Recently filmstar Sanjay Dutt, venturing in the murky world of Indian politics has joined the Samajwadi Party...though I certainly applaud the decision of influential & intelligent individuals from all walks of life entering politics & trying to make a change, I am less than impressed with the practice of entertainers from the glamour world bonding with unsavoury political parties...it reeks of greed to make more money & earn more influence...

The Samajwadi Party's election manifesto & their assurances of what it will do if elected to power is enough to blow any intelligent person's mind away...the party promises to abolish English from the Nation's education system, curb the use of computers to increase job opportunities and prohibit the use of technology and equipment in agriculture...according the their twisted & warped logic, by using English, we are not respecting our National Language Hindi enough...in addition computers & latest technology has left several people jobless and doing away with them is the best way to increase employment opportunities...how the party plans to compensate for the decrease in productivity if they get a chance to implement these improbable schemes is not clear though...

Amusingly, most of the party's leaders are either educated or have children studying in English medium schools...they also use the latest technology in their routine lives & to further their means...it is painfully evident that they cannot really relate to their party's ideals, but are unabashed when they claim with a straight face that they honestly believe in them...

Some of our nation's politicians are the shallowest & most hypocritical characters in human existence...with their limited intellect & vast ego, how they perceive themselves at the helm of the country's affairs is beyond my understanding...it is humiliating to think our country which has never lacked for intelligent minds throughout its history & is the birthplace of some of the world's most well-respected, successful & talented personalities has to tolerate such politicans...
