Me & My wife had been longing to visit Shhivanasamudram since the days we were Romeo&Juliet ;) Somehow things didn't work out till Oct 30th, exactly 286 days after our marriage.

We had brought my father's (I mean our) Santro from Kerala to B'lore. Earlier we thought of going all the way on our Bullet, but as our car was not being used regularly, I thought, we will travel in car.

We started from my home in Basavanagar by 6.45am, being a sat early morning, there was no traffic, I could easily drive down to Mysore road in 20min time. We stopped in Bidadi near SBI ATM to withdraw some cash.

On the way, we stopped to have breakfast in McDonald. After that, it was a non-stop drive till Maddur. The roads are very good. @ Maddur we stopped to ask the route bought some apples and continued our drive.

We have to take a right and deviate from B'lore - Mysore highway. From Maddur to Malavelli roads are not very good. There is a short stretch of bad road.

Shivanasamudram consists of 2 waterfalls:

Gaganchukki falls and Barachukki falls.

Gaganchukki comes first. We reached Gaganchukki by 8.45am. After spending some time there & taking few snaps' we proceeded to Barachukki, which was another 15km or so.

In Barachukki, we have to climb down a considerable distance to reach the base area of the waterfall. We could see lot of guys sipping beer and playing in water.

There was boating service (Kotta Vanchi in Malayalam) being conducted by locals whic will take u around in the river. It cost us a 100 bugs for 2 people. But I would say it was worth it, it took us very near to the falls, it was really exiting a bit dangerous, it’s worth taking the risk. We enjoyed thoroughly!

After that we climbed back, started driving back and reached outskirts of B'lore by 2.30. Due to the traffic, it took 2.30hrs to reach Basavanagar. :-)

I would recommend you guys to visit this place..It’s a nice place for a short weekend trip.
