I was always fascinated by the idea of staying away from family in another city , along with new people. This idea got conceptualized when I got job posting at Pune , away from city Mumbai.

While going , though I was fond of staying away, staying away from family alone , along with strangers did frighten me.

In initial months I went there with my parents and stayed at my uncle's house located at Talegaon at the outskirt of Pune. After a month passed in Talegaon and romancing with Talegaon’s environment –it’s cold weather , steep roads, beautiful bungalows , ample water. We decided to find some place nearer to my office, where I will be staying away from family and alone.

Again I was scared of change , about how I will adjust with new people? Will I be able to adjust with new people? But shifting to a new place was the best decision , I met many new people, had fun , ate out , watched movies, I would not have, had so much fun at home or even at Talegaon.

FOOD AT PUNE

As our owner (who stays downstairs) does not allow cooking so the food is the most important topic for discussion. Some time we spend time cursing our dabbewala’s pathetic quality of food, guessing what we will get to eat tonight, or on Sunday where we will go out to eat.

On Sundays or holidays we have no option but to eat out so we have explored most of the food joints in our vicinity. Some times we think of going at far away places to eat but we can hardly depend on Pune’s public transport unlike Mumbai.

We stay in model colony area and everything there is costly and so is the food. but also there are various types of restaurants, recreational centers , malls and so on.

Momos and Maggi……..

There are several shops which we can count on for the breakfast. They sell varied food items from Momos, Thupka , sandwich, chat to Maggi and Bournvita. For the first time I saw a shop selling cooked Maggi noodles and people buying it even at slightly higher cost. As cooking is not allowed in several PGies staying in our area and sometimes there is urge to eat simple food like Maggi noodles , people don’t mind to spend Rs 25 and buy a bowl of Maggi. or spend Rs forty for a glass of cold bournvita.

Dinning out..

On Sundays as there is no tiffin we have decided to explore as many restaurants as possible in our vicinity.

Sweet Chariot

My room mate got to know about this restaurant from her colleagues and so we went there to eat pasta. The small restaurant located at Dnyaneshwar paduka chowk at F.C. Road serves good quality of Italian food and is popular for its blueberry cheese cake. Chicken lasagna along with chicken macaroni and blueberry cheesecake makes ample dinner for two.

Missing home food

Many a times we miss home made food but restaurant such as Mathura (at Deccan) and Mastkalandar fill the gap. Maharastrian Thali offered at Mathura serves roti made from jowar , Bajra or nachni (we have the option to choose), Pitthala, Dal, Vangya cha Bharit (Baingan ka Bharta), missal, rice, salad and Wada.

Many other restaurants such as Mini wok for Chinese, Potoba, Mainland China, skye lounge, KFC or barbeque nation are also good options.

MORNING WALK…

After having not so healthy food and eating junk food , we have decided to go out for a morning walk. The garden chittaranjan vatika is near us. Also chaturshringi temple is our favourite place for morning walk . We climb the temple as many times as we can and do squats and lunges over there. Many people come there for exercise but it is not crowded place. The railings in the temple helps to do push ups.
