TACKLING TERROR

Hats off to Modi for keeping cool and allowing the law agency to get on with the investigation on the bomb blast. The reward of 50 lakhs and the assurance of anonymity seem to have paid off.

I am sure the other BJP ruled states CM should do well to emulate such precedents, instead of looking down upon minority community. The tentacles of terror have spread in a major way in India , with youngsters from the minority community taking up to terror. It is unfortunate that a computer literate Billal or Taufique had the audacity to hack a foreigner’s computer and send e mail after the blasts occurred in Ahmedabad in the name of Indian Mujahuddin.

Now this phenomenon leads authorities to another dimension of tackling the young minds. I am sure they require counseling at regular stages, which can be only done at colleges and schools. The Police and NGO’s have to visit the minority schools and colleges to impart confidence and knowledge of terrorist motive. Each and every minority student should be able to contact the highest officials in the Police on one to one basis through mobile sms or talk in case of advance knowledge of crime being planned. Visiting cards of the cops should be with each and every student with telephone nos and e mail id to encourage advance leak. In case it is a major haul than such student should be anonymously rewarded too. I would go to the extent of reward 25 lakhs for such information, instead of announcing 50 lakhs after the crime is committed.

The terror network has obviously been installed to destroy Indian fabric, all the terror network is masterminded from either Pakistan or Bangladesh . Indian leaders have definitely erred in supporting independence of Bangladesh which has become a base for terror planning. I won t the surprised that D gang has now shifted base from Karachi to one of the remotest places in Bangladesh . If the Indian government is serious about bringing them to books, they should announce reward of 50 crores to anyone who gives information on the D gang who have perpetuated the most heinious terror attack in the form of Mumbai serial blast. A superficial investigation is being carried out trying to nail all small time supporters instead of targeting the mastermind. The reward should be announced in international media, since their network is spread all over the world.

The law of the land is definitely twisted in case of tackling terror, a man is innocent until he is proved guilty. In case of terror investigations exceptions are definitely made, some innocents may get arrested. I am sure the tentacles of law will be able to sort out in due course of time, the innocents vs guilty. The media hype on impact of terror should be moderated inorder to reduce the chances of communal backlash. I find that media goes overboard in terror coverage. Continuous coverage of crime scene and speculations only increase the communal divide, maximum 1 hour coverage with updates in the tickler form is sufficient. Beyond 1 hour coverage the media channels are nailing a permanent hatred. We got to learn from the Israeli way of coverage of terror attacks, so as to defeat the motive of the terrorists
