Free period please they always plead,

With looks that’d melt hearts of steel;

And when denied they do take their books,

And follow the lesson with the martyred look.

They note down the homework with huge groans,

Some do it well while others simply don’t.

Studies, tests are all taken in their stride

They weather it all with intact smiles.

While teachers worry to better their lot,

And remind them, life is a battle to be fought,

They in turn effortlessly bring the thought,

That life is laughter however fraught

With marks, exams, tests and what not.

In uniforms of white and green or grey hues,

With rebellious other clothing sometimes in view,

Fighting their own battles in their world of fun,

Innocent in the youthful minutes before them,

Students, students everywhere,

Sauntering,seemingly without a care.
