An elderly woman, tightly bandaged around her waist, was sitting in front of a medical check up room. She required assistance for standing up and for sitting and each of this state change created lot of pain. The doctor who is supposed to do the check up was relaxing in a nearby room watching TV.


After half an hour or so a man who is the staff of the medical centre, who saw the plight of this lady reminded the young doctor that patients are waiting. The young doctor was so much glued to the music channel, that he informed the messenger to ask the woman to wait. Seeing that the doctor is being reminded of patients, the woman got up from her chair with the support of her daughter. She kept standing for 5 minutes. Still the young doctor was not yielding. Soon she again managed to sit in the chair.


After some time the young doctor came out of the room and entered his room. The lady again stood up and went to the doctor's room, the pain which she was suffering while getting up from her chair was audible in terms of a groan.


The doctor then asked angrly, "Who told you to come in? What is your token number? Wait outside until your number comes". The lady was quite dejected. She walked back to where she was sitting earlier and stood there for another minutes. She was not ready to sit, since one more effort to sit and stand will again put her in more pain. The young doctor was pressing the token number one by one starting from number 98. The lady's token number was 110. From 98 to 109 no one was present. At last the lady could walk in and get examined.


I happened to be the token number 111. I was really sad to see all this happen in front of my eyes and all this happened to a widow of a soldier who came to this hospital just to enjoy the service benifit, which she was entitled to based on her martyr husband and since she cannot afford the multi speciality hospitals around.


How can be people be so inhuman?
