On 9th feb 2009 we were fortunate enough to visit the Temple of ( Sivagami Ambal udanurai) Lord Chidambareswarar (Kalyana Sundereswarar) at VADAKALATHUR near Thiruvarur in Tamilnad/

It is a centuries old temple which dates back to chola period/ it was left unattended for decades & with the efforts of Mr.Govindarajan from chennai & with the help of the local people it was renovated & the Kumbabishegam was performed on 8th feb2009/

the village VADAKALATHUR is situated near KILVELUR town which is situated on the NH 67 between Thiruvarur& Nagapattinam/

this temple idols were stolen by a person few years ago & later it was recovered with the help of the police/ as per that perosn's statement he was unable to lift the idol of Lordess Sivagami Ambal bcas he bcame blind suddenly while trying to lift that idol/

also there is one abondoned Lingam on the open ground near the temple ( the village people say that the Lingam was damaged& hence left out side unattended for centuries)

few months ago the villagers had witnessed a bright light eminating from that LINGAM on a Pradosham night/ which was seen by many people for nearly 30 mints/all the idols in that temple r very butyful / the panchaloka idol of the Lord Kalyana Sundereswarar is a very rare& butyful one& it is now under the care of the archeological dept/they have brought the idols with tight security to the temple for the Kumbabishekam& it will be there till 14th of this month only/.this temple is older than the Thirumanancheri temple & the belief is that this temple was popular for special prayers for getting married& to get blessed with a child /

it is a small village but the location of the temple is so beautyful & one can feel the devine presence there/ also there is a LORD VARATHANARAYANA PERUMAL TEMPLE near by /both r situated near a lilly pond /

there they have installed a new idol of Lord ANJENEYA/ before installing the idol they had to immerse it in milk as per the procedures/ while they immersed the idol in milk the figure of Lord ANJENEYA appeared over the surface of the milk & remained there for few hours& they have taken pic of it/ I will post that pic soon after I scan it /

it was a real pleasant experience to be there on that speacial occassion /the people of that village r so affectionate& helpful/ Hope& pray that we will be able to visit the temples again/ I have posted the pics of the idols& the temple in photo section/praying for everyone to get the blessing of Lord Kalyana sundereswarar & Lord Varathanarayana Perumal/
