Fifteen days back the heat was beyond toleration. Ever since 3rd June, quite unexpectedly a week ago, the monsoons hit Maharashtra and Southern India full-flegedly. All day long water lashes the entire city of Mumbai. 24 hours continuous rains often becomes boring, without sunlight. The cravings for rains are over in 10 days where, though we know such rains are to fall more for the next 3 months.
Lord Indra, Hindu mythology Lord, seems to be very kind this year. The agriculture of our country depends on the rains. This is a good sign but with poor infrastructure and road maintenance, accidents and structural collapses increase. The Municipal authorities find it hard to cope up with the growing rain challenges. Roads are under construction and the work gets hampered due to incessant rains.
The happiest among all are the kids who freak out the most during the initial rains, or maybe all through the rainy season. Transport and traveling also becomes troublesome for the masses. Water logging and pot-holes make commuting and walking difficult. It is best advisable for kids and elderly to stay at home during such times for safety.
What ever the pros and cons, rains are fun and a blessing for all.
