The person if he has purchased a product or availed a service either for his consumption or for his livelihood and not for commercial purpose, if finds a deficiency in service he/she can file a complaint before the Consumer Forum in their District or State or in the National Consumer Commission. The Complaint can be filed in the District Consumer Forum if the claim amount is not more than Rs.20, 00,000 (Rs. Twenty Lakhs only). The Complaint can be made in the State Forum if the claim amount is not more than Rs.1, 00, 00,000. (One Crore only). If the claim amount exceeds one crore then the appropriate Forum to file that Complaint will be National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), New Delhi.
