How often do we pray to God? I think most of us pray to him everyday for various reasons and purposes. I personally pray to God many times in a whole day, right from the beginning of the day till night time. In the morning I pray and thank the Sun God for keeping me alive to witness another day in my life. After I take a bath, I approach the pooja place where I pray to God to always bless my family and every living creature on this earth and then I pray in front of my late father’s photograph and seek his blessings. I then touch my mother’s feet and seek her blessings too, without which I never venture out. At the time of taking lunch and dinner, I thank Maa Annapurna, the Goddess of “Anna” (the food that we eat) for providing me and my family with food always. While opening and closing my office, I pray to God. At last in the night, while going to bed, I remember God and thank him for the day and then retire to a peaceful and reclined sleep. This is my personal routine prayer schedule every day. Many of us would be praying in their own ways, but the thing to be noted is“how do we pray? For what do we pray? For whom do we pray? And the most important factor is why do we pray”?
I will just put here my personal interpretation of a prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool for connecting to God and denotes three important factors which are: 1) Thankfulness.2) Dedication.3) Self content. God has given us everything. A beautiful life to live. He gave us happiness according to our capabilities and Karmas. He gave us friends and relatives, water to drink and food to eat for survival. He gave us parents as his messengers who gave us birth and helped us grow nicely. He gave us a brain to think wisely and many other things which help us survive in the world. Is this not enough? .
We should be thankful to God for granting us these things and should totally dedicate ourselves in thanking him every day. We should be self contented with every thing that we have got and not crib about anything in front of God.
My late father used to tell me that when you walk on the road you have to keep your eyes down firmly on the road, you don’t look up towards the sky because if you do so then you will not be able to notice a stone or a hurdle in the middle of the road and you may stumble and fall down. By telling this he wanted to convey that never look at the upper people who are above you in position and riches. It”s their fate, will of God in accordance with their past and may be present good karmas that they are there above you, so never be jealous of them but enjoy with what you have obtained and instead look down at people who are far under privileged then you are and then think and thank God for it that you enjoy much more privileges than them.
While praying what a lot of people do is to be demanding for everything. Some people always cry in front of God and push him to grant according to their wishes. Many people act like creditors to whom God owes everything. Some demand many riches, some demand good careers and the list of demands is never ending. Many literally beg to God for trivial things and matters which they themselves are quite capable of achieving. How much should we be dependable on God?
He has done his bit by creating us now it’s up to us to lead our life honestly and correctly. If we face adversities, pave a way out of it on your own as God has already given you the strength inside and it’s up to you to awake that inner strength from within you instead of troubling God to clear every adversity. There should always be a desire within you to solve your problems, but many times we intensify it and then pray to God for taking us out of the dreadful situation that we ourselves are responsible of. Prayers should be for others and not for us. we should always pray for the well being of others and automatically God will oblige and respond to this kind gesture of ours and keep us happy and it is said that the real happiness lies in seeing others happy, isn”t it?
"Our life should be such that it should be like a divine prayer in itself".
Peace, tranquility and equality to all.
