I've been to the Lakme in Hyd, and let me tell you, it's pretty awful. Beauticians with garish makeup poke innocent customers with their long vampish fingernails during their 'facial' and their hands smell of masaledar curry. I would much rather go elsewhere...

Desai got carried away numerous times by her tendency to...how should I put it...use ostentatious language, and 10 words where one might have served just as well, or even better... That style takes some getting used to ...but once you do, the book is a 9/ read more...

I dont' find many unbaised newspapers in Hyderabad. If you buy Deccan Chronicle, your IQ goes down. If you get the Times, you're bombarded by irrelevant news on the main pages. To tell u the truth, I wasn't as moved, or touched, or whatever else by it as I could have been. I think it's because when the book came out, there were so many reviews and so many people talking and writing about it, I knew what happens when and to whom before I even saw the book...
