Not Divadkar it's Andhera-kar

Strickly No.

Hey guys, I would like to share my experience or rather suffering to you regarding my one day stay at hotel Divadkar. I am from Pune.

I had planned 3 days stay at Matheran to enjoy nature with relaxation. I googled and visited various site to book a good economic hotel and concluded for Gujarat Bhavan, unfortunately it was packed at that time, so I had to go for Hotel Divadkar. I booked it online by paying Rs. 2700 as a booking charge. As per planning I along with my wife reached at Matheran on 13-July-2011, it was heavy rain there. Since vehicle is not allowed in Matheran, we walked 3 km to reach Matheran. We enjoyed foggy enviornment and gorgeous scenary of nature during walk in rain. We were bit tired and totally wet after reaching Matheran some of our stuff also wetted, so we decided to relax and take rest after check in to the hotel.

Since there was heavy rain, flow of water was coming out from main gate of hotel they have kept some stuff and stones to prevent water from flowing out. I didn’t understand that may be they wanted to make swimming pool out of that!!! Building of hotel was very old. Structure from outside was like

small godown. Reception desk was like a tea stall. After completion of check in formalities they told us to wait for some time as some cleaning was pending in the room. That was unacceptable since we were already two hours late, anyways after 10 mins one guy led us to our room. All room of that

hotel were in single row parallel to reception desk (tea stall). Corridor for each room were separated with big wooden wall. Outside of each room there was three seater wooden chair, couple of plastic chair and one small round table. All those furniture were too old and dirty. Keeping good

hope we entered in the room. Room size was hardly 20*20 feet. There was a double bed (two combined single bed!!!) one uncleaned cupboard filled with old newspapers, small 15" TV, TV table (surely 30-40 years of age), one small table. There was no single chair in the room. We took two chair

from outside and with that whole room was packed, not much space left in room with two of us and those craps. I don’t know what they had cleaned because room was not cleaned and cushion of outside wooden chair was inside the room. I had to put it outside. Bed mattress was so thin that it

barely serves its usage. There were two blanket both were not washed properly. Bathroom and toiled are attached and merely of size 5 * 5 feet (Seriously). Ambiance of the room was too old and totally unpleasant As I said building is like godown, the roof was so high that ceiling fan had to attach with long road to keep its distance proper with floor. Room was dark without proper lighting and ventilation. We literally shocked upto that. There were no single hook or any other facility to hang our wet clothes(disgusting). Anyhow we managed and decided to take sleep. Lunch, tea and dinner was included (should not go beyond 800, they will charge after this amount) we ordered lunch (option are punjabi and non-veg only). We are vegetarian so ordered punjabi lunch (They gave us menu which describe all foods very prescribed manner. with example like on subji list there was original sample of gravy, two thee drops of Dal was also there). Food was ok not too bad (surprise). We took rest after lunch and

in the evening went outside to see Matheran’s nature beauty. We seen two three places, wandered in the market up to 7:30. There was total darkness and fog at that time and there were not many tourist or local people so we had to go back to hotel room. Nothing else had to do so we decided to

watch TV. As expected TV was not working, I called the guy and he said set top box card is expired and he brought another card after that TV started, now to change the channel remote was required and as it was not there so he took one and finally we killed some time by watching TV. After that we ordered some dinner (No choice punjabi only) and decided to sleep. After some time we woke up since some weired sound was coming, light was not there now these element was left for us (which called scary). We were filling like we stacked in some some haunted place. Next morning we both were

so mood less and without any excitement left further more there was heavy rain we decided to return back. We can’t bare this place (Divadkar) anymore. I went to reception and told them we want to check out upon that he said they will not give me refund (I already paid 2 days charge as a booking) and I have to loose Rs. 750. I heavily argued with him but he told it is our policy, you can checkout at evening with lunch and dinner. I was in mood of arguing with him anymore so I told him to keep the bucks with you and we ran away from hotel.
