I picked up Vernon Good Little not really knowing what to except-just heared it won the booker prize and figured Id give it a shot. And wow. this book took me by suprise me in the best and weirdest way possible.
The story follow Vernon, a 15-year-old boy from a small texan town who end up being blamed a school shooting he didnt commit. sound dark, right?
But heres the twist- its written with so much sarcasm, dark humour, and raw emotions tha youre laughing one minute an feeling gut-punched the next.
The writting is raw, honest, and at times, painfully real. it captures the struggle, and inner battles of a person whos just trying to find a place in the world that doesnt always make sense. I Found myself reflection on my own thoughts and changing while reading it-thats how relatable and powerful it is.
Its not your usual feel good, but thats make it special. it challenges you, make you uncomfortable in parts, but also makes you the depth of human emotions.
If youre someone who loves stories that are real, intense, and thought-provoking, Vernon is a must read.
