I would like to share a misreable experience with Hitachi Refrigerators India(Johnson Controls Hitachi). I purchased one of the premium models by Hitachi in 2016, costing Rs 64, 000. Little do we know, we got opened a channel to misery. The fridge worked well for less than a year and we apprached Hitachi for support. After hundreds of calls and follow ups and about 20 visits from their engineers, the problem was not resolved. Since October 2017, it has been totally non operational. We escalated this to their highest levels but to no respite. After suffering for more than a year, finally Hitachi informed us that there is an internal leakage which is irrepairable. We requested for a replacement as it being a manufacturing defect and the fridge was always under either warranty support or under AMC. However, I was informed to pay 40% of the cost as depreciation. After much pursuasion and arguements that it was not my fault at all, the depreciation is now offered as 20% of the costs. All this while me and my family including small kids have been suffering. There is almost a daily damage of perishable foods, milk and medicines due to low to negligible cooling. The agony faced with them is a separate story all together. Would suggest to everyone to not opt for any Hitachi products as they simply are bad products and Hitachi does not honor its own AMC/warranty and has a total disregard for the customers.
