we stayed in a hotel which was a 3 star and that was an honeymoon suite, but yes you can definitely find a hotel in your budget, just search in yatra.com, they'll provide you with a lot of good options fitting in your budget. we took a taxi from delhi which was around 1500/day.
stay in millennium resort...a very nice property which is close by to the patong beach, just about 10 mins walking distance, and is also connected to the famous Jungceylon market.
