Please do not compare scooter with bikes I am using my Wego since 2012 and it ran 30000KM in city conditions. I use it in highway once every week for 150KM drive. Ask your mechanic why did'n't he maintain the battery. He should know that the battery in the scooter is not dry cell. I had same problem in self start after 12 months of purchase.
