In India the Muslims are categorized as the biggest minority that prevails in the country. Here instead of going into Shakesperean English, I would rather write in simple and plain English so that the common person with lesser education can and could read it clearly.

Right from the time of India’s independence, every political party, federal and state governments have used the Muslims as their vote bank, for their own benefits. hardline Hindu parties have labelled the pampering of Muslims as appeasement. And perhaps rightly so. And then the Muslims grabbed the opportunity thrown into their laps by the political parties, and turned opportunists.

The biggest triump card that was ever played by the Congress governments was to confer the title of Other Backward Class (OBC) on the Muslims. Well, frankly speaking, the billion dollar question that raises eyebrows and suspicion is whether the Muslims are really Backward Class?

As far as I know and to the best of my knowledge as a Muslim, having worked in one othe largest media group in a conservative Muslim country like Saudi Arabia which is the citadel for the Muslims around the world, and having studied hundreds of books on Islam, I have valid reasons to beleive that the classification of Muslims as belonging to the OBC is completely wrong and without any justification.

Islam is the supreme religion of the Muslims, and is also one of the fastest growing religion in the world. Both Islam and the Prophet Muhammed, have been rated as the number One religion by famous American author Michael Hart.

Scanning through various authentic books on Islam, I read in one of the books that Islam is not a religion of backwards. However there is no denial of the facts, that Muslims in India do consist of Economically Backward Class (EBC). No learned scholar of Islam or Muslim intellectual can ever cite or state that Muslims belong to the backward class community. No evidence whatsoever.

Then who classified the Muslims as OBC category? None other than the political parties and more the Congress government. And it is also a fact, that the Muslims jumped to grab the crumbs thrown to them and proclaimed themselves as backward class Muslims, thus seizing the opportunity to get several benefits that are available to the Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe caste.

There are several Muslims in Maharashtra who availed the benefits stating that they belonged to the backward class, specifically schedule tribes, and had the surnames of Tadvi, Deshmukhs, Mujawars, Jamadars, Ansari and Momins.

I do not understand as to since when have the Muslims become scheduled castes and in which religious books of Islam it is mentioned that Tadvis, Deshmukhs, Mujawars, Jamadars, Ansaris and Momins have been scheduled class people?

There are incidents where Muslims in India, particularly in Maharashtra have been fighting literally for the post of the president of the Muslim OBC organization. The federal government as also some state governments are encouraging this so-called Muslim OBC organizations and utilizing them during the elections.

But yet not a single Muslim scholar or politician had the courage to speak out clearly and point out that neither Islam nor Muslims belong to the OBC category. And why have all these Maulanas and Maulvis maintaining silence, when their religion is compared far below the level of even the Dalits?

In Maharashtra, chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is using this Muslim OBC outfit, while in Bihar it is Laloo Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan and in Uttar Pradesh it its chief minister ’’Maulana’’ Mulayam Singh Yadav.

In short and to the point, the Muslim OBC is a shame and insult to Islam and Muslims, and worst when it is even referred to as below the Dalits.

The opposition is right when it calls this short of use of Muslim OBC’s as appeasement of Muslims. I think absoulately there is no wrong in the allegations of the Opposition.

Unfortuntely, Muslims are victims of their own acts. It is for this very purpose that the Indian Muslims are not looked upon nicely in the Gulf states. Official statistics show that out of the 17 lakhs NRI’s in a conservative and fundamentalist country like Saudi Arabia, 75 percent of the NRI’s are Hindus. Now what will the Muslims have to say on this? Any answers?
