This book is a very old book written by our own Chetan Bhagat who is very famous in India. It has been claimed by the writer Chetan Bhagat that this is most of his own story while he was in IIM and his wife.
To begin with I know that most of us Indians love Chetan Bhagat and don't want to hear any negatives in his writing.
When I read this book I was completely baffled because this book was a proper masala for younger generation readers and it kind of takes them away from judging this book on the writing and the nobility of the story.
Show the story of the book is that a young Punjabi guy who has graduated from IIT enters in IIM Ahmedabad and meets a South Indian girl is her batchmate. Soon they become friends and starts dating each other. The writer in order to excite young audience has kind of mention some of the erotic scenes which happens between these two characters in the college in a very vulgar way. Later when the college is about to end they both decide that they would like to marry each other and live the life together forever. The major problem which arises between their marriage is that the guy is from a Punjabi family and girl is from Tamil Brahmin family which creates a huge cultural gap between their families. Both families when come to know about equation of these two they are completely against it show the journey to convince them begins with it.
After graduating from IIM the girl decides to work in Chennai in our hometown and the boy takes a job in bank and decides to work in the Chennai branch of that bank which kind of doesn't go well with his mother. the car has no cordial relations with his father so the mother wants him to stay in Delhi with her but he goes to Chennai to convince father of girl that he is the right man for her. so basically the spoke father describes how both both of them tries to convince their families and each other's families and how and what circumstances would lead them in future.
So the major negatives and disappointment of this book are that it kind of use of filmi story. The story of the book has no new concept and the writing of the book is very poor and at a lot of time it feels that the author is very offensive towards women which I did not like. The end of the book is so certain that it feels like the story could not be unfolded properly while giving the end to the readers. So I would not recommend the spoke to anyone except people who are beginners in reading and for them this book might be easy to read.
