All romantic comedies are more or less based on the same tiresome formula : guy-girl meet, hate & bicker with eachother but still cannot keep away from eachother & in the end they both end up together. This film is no different than the rest but it has a charming Hugh Grant & delightful, witty comedy that keeps our interest in the film

The Story:
Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock) is a lawyer & also a social activist who, wants to save the Coney island community center near her childhood home. She meets George Wade (Hugh Grant), a billionaire whose company owns the centre & is out to modernise it.
Lucy tries to convince George not to destroy the community center & George not only agrees to do so, he also persuades Lucy to work for him as his private lawyer/chief counsel. Lucy takes the job but soon realises that her boss is a irresponsible, selfish womaniser who is obsessed with his image. Little did she imagine that besides counsellg his company she would also have to carry our menial jobs for George & end up as his personal assistant too. Working for a year Lucy becomes indispensable for George but a day comes when she refuses to go through all the stress for demanding & thankless boss.
Lucy decides to quit & puts in her two weeks’ notice, George agrees to let her go but only if she can find him a replacement. Lucy selects a beautiful young ambitious lawyer Jane (Alicia Witt) to work for George as his chief counsel. Just as Lucy is ready to leave, she realizes that she may be in love with her boss & of course George feels the same too.............

The Film/performances:
The film is oh-so-predictable yet enjoyable coz the story is simple n sweet & the film was realised on valentines day ;) Directed by Marc Lawrence this film wont be called a classic or great comedy but it is a charming comedy film that makes the viewer smile & laugh, at the right times. The best thing about the film is surely the spark of chemistry between Hugh & Sandra.
Hugh Grant is a natural charmer – lively & energetic. He looks every inch like a spoilt spoon fed playboy. I was wondering how he’d look singing hindi songs & running around trees with our bollywood heroines ! He steals the show from his heroine & puts life in mundane scenes . Uff ! Hugh Grant has the bestest smile :)
Sandra Bullock just about fits the bill of a lawyer who ends up acting as her boss’s nanny. Something has changed in her since her role in ’’Ms. Congeniality’’ she looks kinda old & for the most part plays her role without any heart in it. Luckily she has Hugh Grant to save the day & the film, together their team results in genuine hilarity.
Alicia Watt is absolutely pretty & her presence in the film is a big welcome, after watching Sandra in the first half of the film.
