Im glad to be one among those audience to have watched the paid premier show of "3 Idiots". As such, movies of Aamir Khan do not require a review, and you can very well take the risk of advance booking the tickets. This movie too, proves the fact. For those still looking for a review, here it is:
3 Idiots movie starts with two friends Madhavan & Sharman Joshi beginning their search for their lost friend and engineering class mate Aamir Khan. As their journey of searching their friend begins, they remember their college days and many incidents that took place during their study period, which is shown as flashback in the movie.
As their search progresses, the past is revealed in bits and pieces. And with the address in hand, when they reach Aamir khans place, they are shocked to see Javed Jeffery in that address in Aamir khans name and Javed turns out to be the correct guy with the character that Aamir khan was sporting during college. So, who is Aamir khan, what is his real name, why did he join the eng. college and more importantly, where is he now ?? That forms the second half.
We all know that this story is inspired from the best seller edition "Five point someone" by Chetan Bhagat. And the director was done the right thing, i.e., not trying anything silly by editing the original script or to change the sequence of things.
For those who have read the book, you just need to look out for the cast and comedy, as nothing has changed from the book.
For those who have not read it, you will enjoy the little suspense too.
Aamir , as usual, plays his character to the best, with facial expressions, comedies etc.,
Madhavan & Sharman Joshi does very well to support the story, especially during sentiment scenes.
Kareena Kapoor does not have much to offer to the story, but does her part well.
Bomman Irani, as the Faculty of the Eng. college, does exceedingly well, especially with his interactions with Aamir khan.
The music of the movie doesnt deserve a special mention, but it is good enough.
The message of the movie is very clear - to the parents - not to force their son or daughter in their career, and give them a freedom to choose their own path which they love or aspire.
There is not a single minute in the movie that you feel left out or bored. The first half of the movie is full of the fresh and young college atmosphere and is fully of comedy, that makes you laugh and you literally wait for the interval to get some water.
You expect the second half to be more serious, with some twists, but it is not so. As Madhavan and Joshi search for Aamir, the suspense is maintained till the end, though it is predictable at times. But the laughter never comes down.
There is no action scene, no violence, no glamor dances, but only comedy , which makes the movie reachable to all age groups.
This is one of those set of movies, where you feel that the characterization has been perfect and you cannot think of a better actor/actress playing that character.
You have a scene like Aamir khan taking the old man (joshis father) to the hospital in a scooty, as there was no ambulence, which appears very funny.
And there is a scene where Aamir handles Kareenas sisters delivery with a vaccum cleaner in an emergency, in the backdrop of mumbai flood , which is heart-stopping.
The movie will be remembered for its mantra "All is Well", if not for anything else.
Over all, this is best christmas gift you can get from the Santa called Film industry".
Bottom line - Dont miss this movie. Be ready to laugh, from the 1st minute till the end of movie.
