Have you heard the story of the emperor’s clothes. I studied about it in my childhood. When a tailor captures the imagination of the king for the dress he had failed to prepare on time, with a catch that only a person of clean conscience can see the dress.
The king who definitely could not see the non-existent dress for obvious reasons is forced to appreciate it and go ga-ga over it. He spreads the same ’guilt’ around and everyone around him, right from the queen to the courtsean are all praise for the emperor in the new dress, when he is actually moving around with just his undergarments on, just to come clean on their conscience.
It finally takes an innocent boy in the court to yell out that the emperor is almost naked, and in that innocent truth all realize what a frenzy everyone had got into.
3 idiots is an exactly similar stunt carried out by the 3 smarties. Capture the imagination of everyone of a beautiful, honest and innocent life. weave a entire glut of sequences around it, how much ever stupid or irrelevant they may be, and make believe everyone into "don’t be a stupid be an idiot". The kind of frenzy that has been seen over the past couple of weeks in making the movie an all time hit. really is in sincere appreciation to the smartness by the 3 - Amir, Raju and Vinod! Kudos for pulling such a stunt.
A completely non-existent story & plot. stupendous performance from everyone except the real idiot, and a movie far beyond the class of Raju & Vinod - Munnabhai series, is what Aamir has finally been able to deliver to the audience.
The lighter moments in RV’s earlier Munnabhai series, were never offensive nor derogatory. But this time they have scaled different heights. they have made a real stupid movie look idiotic and convinced people to love it and like it. I could go into highlighting the stupidity in every idiot-ism that has been thrust on to us. but again it will require a real innocent and a real idiot to understand what I say. and if one is really as innocent and as idiot to understand it. would have already understood it by the movie without the need for my highlights.
The only title that would suit this movie is 3 Smarties and over a billion idiots!
