Chamatkaar of idiots

Three idiots Movie is the outcome of an outstanding effort of Hirani who has given us movie like Munnabhai MBBS in the past.  All the 3 idiots viz. Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi have outdone each other in terms of performances.  It was amazing to watch Aamir Khan playing the character of a college student and getting away with the same.  The QSQT guy has certainly retained his cute looks even after so many years.

The movie is not an exact narration of Chetan Bhagat’s first and the best book Five Point Someone.   But whatever changes have been incorporated in the script were certainly for the better.  The movie turned out to be outrightly hilariously and there was not a single moment that one feels detatched from the screen.  It is the story of 3 wannabe Engineers who get admission in one of most prestigeous Engineering college of India (no mention of IIT is there).

On their first day at the institute they have to undergo ragging procedure which is very very entertaining, specially Aamir’s adaptation of good conductor of salt water.  After getting their bottoms stamped the Engineering students go on with their studies and project.  The most versatile actor Boman Irani as Director of the institute is very very impressive.  He is nicknamed VIRUS by the students.  The director’s ideology, seven and half minute’s power nap and wise use of time is well projected.

The scenes projecting the respective families of the 2 students portrayed by Madhavan and Sharman, their aspirations, their constraints make them look like real life incidences woven very nicely with the suspense of Aamir Khan’s family and his mystic romance with Director’s medico daughter Piya.  The character of Mona Singh (Of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin fame) is non descript but adds special dimension of the movie.  Unlike her recent releases, Kareena did not get a very meaty role in the movie as the bold daughter of the director but definitely get noticed with her spontaneous performance.

The reunion of the students on "Pani ka tanki" after 10 years is very well scripted and presented.  The event is comic, thought provoking, touching every thing woven together.  Who achieved what and what they did not get out of life ....wonderfully depicted.  Rancho’s (Aamir Khan) ideology of fooling the heart by saying "All is well" is quite superb.  The most side splitting sequence of the movie is the replacement of the word "Chamatkar"  by Rancho in the opening speech by a student of the campus.

The best part is the revelation of Aamir Khan about his identity at the end.  And definitely whether Jahapanah was ready to accept the Tohfa or not he was undoubtedly GREAT !!
