I went to see this movie because of the promos that they ran on the television. I had no expectations from the movie but after watching the movie , I was surprised that I quite enjoyed it.
16 december is a movie about patriotic soldiers from India trying to stop a terrorist from Pakistan who is trying to blast India with a nuclear bomb.
very basic plot..but the treatment is good .
In short , the villain ( Gulshan Grover ) wants to blast India with a nuclear bomb because of Pakistans surrender to India on the formation of Bangladesh.
We have Danny ( a veteran of that war with Grover ) and a few intelligence wing heroes ( milind soman , deepanta sharma , sushant singh ) who help danny against grover.
the story cuts straight into the action from the first sequence itself and its a roller coaster ride after that.
the film is heavily gadget friendly and we get to see a mind boggling array of gadgets in the movie that r used by our heroes. such a collection of gadgets is seen I think for the first time in bollywood’s history. hollywood better watch out now , especially a gentleman named mr. bond.
the first half of the movie is fast and pacy . and the second half lives up to the promise though a couple of songs popping up suddenly slow down the pace a lot. I still cant understand why indian makers have to add songs when they r out shooting at foreign locales.
anyways , everything sorts itself out and the climax shifts back to india. though predictable the password cracking sequence had the audience in the theatres engrossed.
of the preformances ..danny and gulshan grover are first class. milind soman is surprisingly good and deepanta sharma looks like the officer she plays and she moves and fights well too . the surprise here is sushant singh of jungle fame..he is fantastic in the movie.
though the film has flaws and some special effects have the audience in spilts , it still manages to entertain .
the biggest plus that the movie has is that it made me and all the people in the theatre aware that 16 DECEMBER is also an important date in history of India and is celeberated as VIJAY DIN.
all in all , a total time pass , paisa vasool phillum.
