The best five books. Really difficult to finally come to conclusion. The best depends on the perception of the person and also more to how much person has read, as endless number of great documents is already written on the diverse topics.
So what are my best five books
here’s my list
1. Bhagvata Gita
I think this is the best happen to me. Gita the words of lord Krsna.lot many persons has given the discourse on Bhagvad Gita(God talks with Arjun by paramhans yoganada, Gita by Swami Chinmayanad, Bhagvad Gita by Aurobindo, mahatma Gandhi, radhakrishnan) and many others. all these being the gr8 text. But I will prefer a small book only mentioning the verses of Gita and their English translation, Gita the Song Divine, by Gita press Gorakhpur.
Let your soul talk directly to the Lord Krsna, and listen to the divine song. Don’t go on what the others interpret and let you know their views, feel yourself. Have a one-to one dialogue with the lord krsna. It’s really an ocean of thoughts, lot to learn and lot to adopt. Once you read this you find that all the other teachings, philosophy etc are just part of it. Its like the root and stem of gr8 tree from which all philosophy, teachings are evolving as the branches(its my feelings, which might be different from the other scholars).
Feel the essence, the purpose of life, the importance of karmayog(the greatest yoga), the requirement to control the senses and desires(the mind shall be the force to drive your senses not the sense which shall drive you), the importance of truth and to stand strongly in favor of that, considering the society, nation over the individual benefits. Just to mention a few.
2. Why men lie and Women Cry, Allan and Barbara Pease
Now come to totally differnent world. A great analysis of the habits of the man and women and why do are so. A real world situations, day to day situations and behaviour. Really a worth reading to know what u are. A good insight in into the phycology of man as well as women.
3. Alchemist Paulo Coelho
It’s again a great because it has helped me to redefining my expectations and deciding my destiny. Really motivating book with such a smooth pace that you can’t put it down once you start reading.
The book gives you the courage to dream great and work for that. The essence is that in pursuit of your goals, you gradually experience the life. Very well written.
4. Made in Japan, Akio Morita
Now a story of the making of SONY, one of the greatest electronic company of the world. Akio morita takes you on the journey on the making of the SONY. The hardship faced by him during the world war II, a determination to bounce back and create something, the strategies, the competition. The management aspects, decisions taken by him with the rationale or thoughts of his are really at its best.
The difference between the cultural and the business attitude of the eastern and western world are very well written.
A must for the professional, its not a management textbook but gives a practical insight to the management aspects.
Again a great and a must read.
5. Mritunjaya( Hindi Novel), Shivaji Savanat
The only hindi novel in the category. The story of karna, portrayal of the feelings of dejection, humiliation, isolation, friendship. A great story. Although I am greatly influenced by the character of Karna when I seen Mahabharta so considering this the only title on Karna I enjoyed this.
I think these will also make a great reading to you.
