"Books are a man's best friend! "
A quote we all have heard over the years. But is there any truth to it? Can a non-living thing be a human beings best shot for Ultimate Friendship?
These were questions that I too had in mind when I heard of the above mentioned quote. But I have to admit from my experience that books often turn out to be very good friends. You can grab a book anytime of the day and it wont complaint! You can cry, laugh or smirk in front of it without the fear of losing privacy!
Today im going to mention 5 books that had a good impact on me. These 5 are the must reads I would recommend to anyone who asks me. So lets have a look at it!
Being Reshma : Real life story of a girl who had to suffer from acid attack at a very young and had to face the harsh truths of the society. The books beautifully illustrates Reshma's journey from a state to commit suicide to becoming an icon for other acid attack survivors. MUST READ!
We Are Displaced : This is a book most of you must know. It was written by Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel prize laureate. She helps the reader to visualise the difficulties faced by individuals who have to leave their native places due to force or unfortunate happenings. It helps the reader to understand the problems of refugees and to build the right attitude to be shown to them. MUST READ!
Buried Thoughts : Buried Thoughts was the first book that was written by Joseph Annamkutty Jose, an Author, RJ, Motivational Speaker and Actor. The book is written in a very simple language is easy to understand. But every chapter holds a lesson for the reader to learn from. The is a collection of this various life experiences. The book is one which had a positive impact on many readers. MUST READ!
Daivathinte Charanmar( Malayalam) : This book is the second work of Joseph Annamkutty. In this books he takes a walk down the memory lane and remembers all those people who made him who he is today. He calls them Daivathinte Charanmar , i.e, "The Spies of God". He says that each human being will have a number of people whom God puts in their life to fulfill their destiny. MUST READ!
And The Mountains Echoed : The first reason for this book to be in this category is the author himself, KHALED HOSSEINI. He's a master story teller who have written many amazing books. But I feel this book is slightly above the others. It is a story of a brother and sister who are separated due to poverty. The story draws a beautiful portrait of how Abdullah( The Brother) tries to meet his beloved Pari( The Sister) again.
