With much expectation for a nice time, myself and family walked into their Malad outlet. Although it was lunch time, the restaurant was crowded. A nepali girl pointed to a vacant table from a distance and disappeared as if she was into some other productive job.
After having seated, a waiter was good enough to offer water but didn’t do seeing a bottle of mineral water on the table which we happened to carry. In the midst of the gujarati aunties’ loud mouthed talk, we waited patiently for the captain to turn up but no luck. No captain was visible in the hall. The water boy again turned up at our table and I requested him to ask the captain to take our order. After a full 5 minutes, a shabby looking guy came and we ordered for soup, starter, a main course dish of chicken and fried rice.
Surprisingly, all the items were brought in in no time and we had to gulp down the soup so that we could eat the main course before it goes cold. As it is a crowded place, we thought the food must be of good quality. To our surprise, my bad time started when I tasted the soup which was horrible. I have never had that kind of tasteless chinese anywhere in mumbai.
All the chicken items were so bland. There were absolutely no responsible person around even to share the feedback. And the final surprise. A fat bill of Rs.1050/- for 3 persons. Two hot n sour soup, one starter, one chicken chilly gravy and one chicken fried rice. I would have more than happy to pay more, had it been prepared with some attention and served to us decently .
We have wasted our time and money of that day by going to a place hopelessly sub-standard and not even remotely comparable to ’janta’ type Udupi restaurants.
