Its the time to 'khisko'

I suffer from this weird syndrome which I am sure must have victimised many. I call it ’weekendophilia’ and I call it weird because on the weekends it changes into ’weekdayophilia’. Its nothing new, we humans suffer from this strange disorder since our birth i.e. Craving what we don’t have and cribbing what we do have. btw, given a choice I prefer to suffer from ’weekdayophilia’ at least this condition does not demand waking up early in the morning!!!.

I admit most of the weekends are enjoyable but at times things are not quite in your hand and you end up having a time so bitter that you start appreciating your office. Unfortunately, I confronted this rare situation just a week back when we decided to visit this ’pub’ in Bandra, Mumbai.

The name itself was a big turn-off but call it lack of options or a reluctance to travel we fell prey to it.

Interiors were very ordinary. Dark, dingy and filled with too much smoke. Walls were fitted with mirrors giving the place a cheap chandni bar look. The visibility was so poor that we had to stumble our way to our seats and guess what is the colour of uniform the waiters wear here.... correct!! its BLACK. Its absolutely impossible to locate them at times.

I am not at all fond of 80’s music. I would prefer anu malik and bappi da over abba and beegee’s but guess what 80’s came out to be a misnomer. Ofcourse they started with the usual disco stuff but later the DJ decided to take a walk down the memory lane and time travelled two decades back to play beatles - love me do (1962) , probably he ran out of 80’s music. I was not complaining.

One of my friends told me this place is frequented by people from the ad-world. I could immediately explain all those crappy and senseless ads that they show in television these days.

So far so good but the place became totally unbearable when a friend of mine was served an extremely sweet tasting drink when he ordered something as bitter as a large peg of ’teachers’. Strangest part the waiter was not ready to accept his mistake and he used a language which reminded me of the permit rooms and the country bars. Anyways he ordered another drink and strictly advised the waiter this time to keep it less sugary and asked for the cheque too along with it. The bill was overwhelming. All the drinks were exorbitantly priced and we all repented our decision since we left the place with a bitter taste and much lighter wallets.

Heed my warning friends, if bacchus beckons answer the call by ordering booze from your neighbourhood wine shop rather than torturing yourself in a place like this.
