Aparichit - Is Not A Stranger

Corruption is that illegitimate child, which no body wanted but it still took the birth, grew up and took a gigantic shape. It has somehow become an invisible yet inseparable part of our system as it exists in various forms.

We don’t like it, but do we fight against it?

Come on buddy, we have many other things to do, which are more important.

We don’t want it, but do we neglect it when time comes?

Come on man, we don’t have time, just get the bloody work done somehow.

What if a simple man of principles, who does not want to promote corruption and decides to fight against it? His lady love rejects him for what he is. And what is he? A man of principles. Someone who wants to fight against the system for his rights and raises his voice against anything and anybody who disobeys the rules.

Due to his frustration he unknowingly becomes a victim of multiple personality disorder, one as Ambi what he is, second the lover boy Remo (to woo his lady love, who falls head over heals in love with him) and third the APARACHIT the man who is there to punish the wrong doers. His punishments are gruesome. You have to watch it to believe.

The idea looks simple but not digestible. But the writer/director Shankar did believe in the subject and came out with one of the finest product of Indian cinema. It was originally made in Tamil as ANNIYAN and then dubbed in Telugu as APARICHTDU and re-dubbed in Hindi as APARACHIT.

To make that happen was required an actor who can do the three roles not only with ease but to the required standards of the story. Meet Ambi aka Remo aka Aparachit played brilliantly by the multi talented actor Vikram with panache, rightly selected by director Shankar.

Mind you its not a case of tripple role, its a case of multiple personality disorder & on three ocassions Vikram had to play the part of more than one character.

Scene one when he is with his lady love Sada as Remo, he suddenly transforms into Aparachit and wants to kill her, keeps on switching the characters from Remo as her protector to Aparachit her killer within seconds, convincingly. And then suddenly he transforms into Ambi.

Secondly, when he as Ambi is diagonised by the doctor (Nasser) and during the examination he becomes both Remo and Aparachit.

Third, in the penultimate reels of the film, when he is in police station beaten by Prakash Raj as Ambi and reacts/beats Prakash Raj as Aparachit and again becomes Ambi the victim. He speaks one sentence and becomes two characters twice, instantly.

The climax left me speechless.

Hats off to Shankar, who kept the tempo of the film so fast that you don’t get time to think. Every time Aparachit is on screen and punishes a bad man, the viewer gets glued to the screen. To believe in something and then present it on screen successfully requires guts and of course luck. Shankar seems to be fortunate in both the departments and anyways LUCK FAVOURS THE BRAVE.

You cannot imagine APARACHIT without Vikram, he is in full form and rightly won the National Award for the best actor for this movie. He got into the skin of all the three characters with conviction. His body language used for the three characters and three different voices used for each character is commendable.

Tight script, razor sharp dialogues, excellent execution of scenes, breath taking stunts by Vikram makes this movie a must watch for all.

If we have a kala bandar inside us, then we also have an APARACHIT in us, all we need to do is bring him out. Not to kill people but to fight injustice.

Watch it for the efforts of Shankar and the brilliance of multi talented VIKRAM.
