Varsha Usgaonkar is one of the most versatile actress of Marathi & Hindi cinema. She was born on 29th February 1968 at Goa. She was introduced first to Marathi cinema by Sachin Pilgaonkar. Soon she became a rage in Marathi cinema and was known for her onscreen chemistry with all her co-stars including Sachin Pilgaonkar, Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Ajinkya Deo, Avinash Narkar, Nitish Bharadwaj to name a few. After a successful stint in Marathi cinema she entered the Hindi film industry in Doodh Ka Karz opposite Jackie Shroff. In Hindi films she was also romantically paired opposite Rishi Kapoor, Govinda, Naseeruddin Shah, Mithun Chakraborthy, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Avinash Wadhavan, Siddharth, Prithvi, Prasenjit etc. Varsha has acted in TV serials, one of them being Darling Alvida opposite Farookh Sheikh. She was noted as a queen of comedy. In Honeymoon and Ghar-Jamai she playes the love interest of Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborthy respectively and was highly appreciated for the comfort level she shared with them on screen. Between 1991 to 1994, her trademark style of wearing a saree and sleeveless blouse, getting drenched in rain and romantically bear hugging her reel hero during a hot song sequence used to set the screen on fire and cash registers ringing at the box-office. Though she did try to show skin during a photo-shoot for a magazine it did not help her sagging career.
Varsha is happily married to classical singer Pt. Ajay Sharma. She makes rare appearances in TV serials, chat shows, musical shows and advertisements and continues to rule the hearts of her millions of fans worldwide.
