A Beautiful Mind ... A Beautiful Movie

A Beautiful Mind …

It is the story of Mr. John Nash , truly Genius Mathematician , Noble Winner. His struggle with not with the people outside, but with the person inside …. His Mind !

It is the story of Mrs. Alicia Nash , truly human, wife of John Nash who always been with him for her faith and love. Her struggle to be with John and make him come to the terms of reality.

It is the story of Human Life , which shows how our world changes dramatically in few seconds and it’s Love which survives anything and everything.

It is the story of Human Mind , capable of things which we can not think of otherwise.

It’s rightly said Gifted Genius are eccentric and difficult to understand. Same goes with our Hero , Mr. John Nash Jr. ( Jr. coz his father’s name was also the same ).

And justly said that Behind every Successful man there is a Woman.

Cast :

Russel Crowe as John Nash

Jennifer Connelly as Alicia

Ed Harris as William Parcher (American Defence Officer )

Paul Bethany as John’s friend and Roommate

Directed by : Ron Howard

StoryLine :

A graduate at Princeton University in the 1940s, discovered a principle equation that changed economic theory. But his career was sidetracked by his struggle with schizophrenia, almost destroying his family and himself. The irony of his dilemma was that the drugs that kept his phobia in check also prevented him from thinking logically.

In order for him to think, he couldn’t take his medication, which lead to perpetual delusions. He eventually learned to use his own mind’s logic to keep his thoughts in check

The movie portrays this struggle, and shows how he learned to live with his illness, while going on to win the Nobel Prize and continuing to teach mathematics at Princeton University.

About the Movie :

The film is ’’inspired by’’ the life of John Nash, so some deviations of facts can be ignored as they have not affected movie in anyways.

I strongly felt this movie isn’t about maths, It’s about weaknesses and the ability to triumph over it. It could have been yours or mine story but the essence of the story would not change.

Further, it’s about the relationship between John and Alicia, and strength of their Bond.

It shows that Love is not all passion, romance, fantasy but also pain , emotions, understanding and yes , support.

John’s world is numbers and theories. The film uses few special effects to clarify this aspect. Scenes where numbers pop out in different sequences during a code breaking are really remarkable.

John recreates the design of a classmate’s tie reflecting light through glass is also amazing.

Dialogs :

Alicia : ’’I believe in deciding things will be good luck, don’t you?’’.

Holding her handkerchief, Nash : ’’No. I don’t believe in luck. But I do believe in assigning value to things.’’

A friend asks Alicia how she can continue to stay with her husband, and she replies with a “Everyone who has ever been in love will understand”

After the movie :

No wonder, movie won Awards. But really felt that Russel should have got award for this than Gladiator.

Good Story , Strong Direction and Impeccable performances makes this Movie stick with you after viewing the picture especially if you allow to be amazed by the twists ( the way I did ) .

You will surely wish to see the film again, and possibly a few times after that second viewing.
