The first installment in’a song of ice and fire’ series is an introduction to the seven kingdoms along with a few characters here and there. The main thing I have noticed while reading this book is that there’s no specific protagonist. Every chapter is told from a character’s point of view and every chapter has its own protagonist and antagonist. This is whats keeps the reader hooked, you might never know whats gonna happen next whether it’ll be good or bad or whether it’ll be to a character you like or hate.
The story starts with Ned stark being visited by his good friend and the king, Robert Baratheon. Now, Robert proposes Ned to be his Hand where as initially Ned thinks about declining the offer but due to certain turn of events he agrees which is followed by Ned going with the King to the capital. Once Ned is inside the capital, its a journey of how it affects all the characters.
This is a great book, so go and start reading it!
