Very misleading trailer

I went to see this film because the trailer made it look really good, it isn’t. This was the biggest waste of two hours I have ever had to endure. The worst thing was every time you thought it had finished something else happened and you had to sit through more of it!

The story starts with a boy named David who is a robot. He is ‘adopted’ by the Swinton family and is programmed to love his parents. He also has a brother who has just come out of a coma. Because David doesn’t know any better he keeps getting into trouble, his brother almost dies because they fall into a swimming pool. David is taken into a forest and left. He vows to find the ‘blue fairy’ which apparently will make him into a real boy and then to back to his mother so that she will love him.

The story then goes off on a complete tangent and is like a completely different film. You meet Gigolo Joe (Jude Law) who is funny at first then because very annoying. Joe and David are caught by a circus type act who take pleasure in killing androids/robots or whatever you want to call them.

I found this film to be two hours too long. I nearly fell asleep. The only good bit about the film is Teddy, who is very cute. He is given to David while he is living with the Swintons. Teddy can walk and talk – where can I get one!!! Teddy is the star of the film and isn’t even in the trailer!!!

I really can’t understand why everyone is giving this film good reviews. It’s terrible. I did have my doubts before watching it because I have never seen a Stanley Kubrick film that I have liked. This one comes right at the bottom. Up until now Eyes Wide Shut has been the worst film I have ever seen, this one beats it by miles. I didn’t enjoy and neither did the other four people watching it with me.

I think that they may have employed the same one fingered person to play the soundtrack on their piano as they did in Eyes Wide Shut. This time though he has grown an extra finger and plays two notes.

So overall, I didn’t like it (you probably gathered that). Going to see this film is a waste of money and time. Not even worth waiting for it on video. Wait until it’s on channel 5 to see it.
