A page from Daadagiriya Dinagalu

A masterpiece from Chaitanya. With so less of publicity for’Aa Dinagalu’ one goes into the theatre quite apprehensively. Comes out pleasently surprised and very happy to get more than your money’s worth. Except for a small slip i.e., 5-10 mins of a drag and a wee bit of ambiguity in charachter shape ups, the plot is beautifully scripted by Karnard and Sridhar. In the real life drama of dons vs dons how can you pull out a thread that has a perfect balance of a love story, family opposition, rich vs poor, underworld  vs police and the icing of a(somewhat) happy ending!

Having heard so much about Agni Sridhar, his past, present and the gangs he was involved in we decided to watch the movie at 7.30 pm on the night of Diwali. Coming out of the theatre with a pleased expression(the violence is so under played considering the subject) of watching a tastefully done movie we drove down in the night amidst an occassional burst of crackers.

As the darkness set in deep blue I remained brightly awake. Thinking. Sharath Lohitashwa blows you off your feet with his performance. Chetan? He fills into the shoes like nobody else. Archana looks natural, beautiful and apt. Why! the whole cast is cool as the Arctic. Ilayaraja is Ilayaraja as ever. Two songs and how!

Aa Dinagalu should take the crown for the most understated movie of the year.
