Monsoons are the most romantic times in all parts of India. And our Bollywood creators seem to know that pretty well. Romance brews on screen in Bollywood movies amidst rains, be it a light drizzle or a ravishing thunderstorm. Rain acts as the perfect setting for the hero and heroine to fall in love, over and over again. There are many rain songs from Bollywood movies which are bound to leave a mark on your mind. You can go back to them whenever you are down or away from your beloved. These songs can really lift your spirits. Here I have listed down 20 such songs which are my all time favorites.   1. Tip tip tip tip baarish shuru ho gayi - Afsana Pyaar Ka




The classic voice of Amit Kumar does full justice to this number. On screen Amir Khan is trying to woo Neelam, the new girl in college. Very, very romantic and melodious song.




  1. On the roof in the rain - Masti




Watch out for Viveik and Lara! Their sizzling chemistry makes the screen go on fire. It’s a fun boy-and-girl-dancing-together number too. All in all great entertainment.




  1. Sawan ka mahina pawan karein shor - Milan




Nutan and Sunil Dutt dazzle on screen. The innocence and simplicity with which Dutt Saab portrays his character is bound to impress you. Nutan ji is looking ever beautiful in this song sequence. Here, Dutt Saab is a boat man, trying to teach Nutan ji this song.




  1. Sun sun sun barsaat ki dhun - Sir




When Naseeruddin Shah is on-screen and lip-syncs to a number, magic is created on celluloid. Also featuring Pooja Bhatt and Atul Agnihotri. I like this number very much. Good team work from Anu Malik and Kumar Shanu.




  1. Aj rapat jaye to humein na uthaiyo - Namak Halaal




O man what to say! This is one of the hottest numbers I have ever seen. Watch out for Amit ji and Smita Patil ji dance on the road, drenching to glory. It’s a great fun song too!




  1. Rim jhim gire sawan - Manzil




Ultimate Kishor da. Ultimate Amit ji. How can you not love this number? Absolutely fantastic singing and acting by the maestros!




  1. Ghanan ghanan - Lagaan




Well the rain did not arrive on Champaran village, but it had woven anticipation and dreams on the eyes of all villagers on screen and audiences off screen. Watch out for Amir Khan’s dancing, it’s absolute joy.




  1. Lagi aj sawan ki phir woh jhari hai - Chadni




Watch Vinod Khanna and Sridevi on screen here. One of their best work till date. Great singing by Suresh Wadekar.




  1. Zindagi bhar nahin bhulegi woh barsaat ki raat - Barsaat




Bharat Bhushan’s lip sync is amazing. One of the finest singing by Mohd. Rafi Saab.




  1. Barso re megha - Guru




Ash does complete justice to this peppy number with her youthful frolics and chirpy dancing. Watch out for the heavenly terrains of South India. Great visuals complement the song.




  1. Megha re megha re - Pyasaa Sawaan




Suresh Wadekar’s voice is an absolutewow! Lata ji is no exception.




  1. Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si - Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi




Kishore da is brilliant with both his singing and dancing in this song. Watch out for him going up the staircase backward. And yes, Madhubala, every man’s dream, lightens up the screen.




  1. Rim Jhim Rim Jhim - 1942A Love Story




Classic rendition by Kumar Shanu. On screen Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala are sinking in romance. Lovable nakhras by the two of them You will love to watch it.




  1. Chaak Dhoom Dhoom - Dil to Pagal Hai




What a fine line this song has given to us - "Koi Ladki hai, jab woh hasti hai, baarish hoti hai bichak bichak dhoom dhoom." Absolutely poetic. SRK and Madhuri Dikshit enliven the surroundings with their magnetic screen presence.




  1. Patjhar sawan basant bahaar - Sindoor




One of the all time greatest songs. Splendid melody, great lyrics, top class singing. Lata Mangeshkar puts life into the words of Anand Bakshi.


16.Naina Barse Rimjhim Rimjhim- Woh Kaun Thi?


The classic song of suspense in a rainy evening. Manoj Kumar’s expressions, and Sadhna’s ethnic beauty add on to the charm of this song. Great rendition by Lata Mangeshkar.




  1. Bheegi si bhaagi si - Rajneeti




A song celebrating the love of Ranvir and Katrina. It’s a very feel good number. Mohit Chauhan steals the show!




  1. Aankhon mein intezaar ke badaal baras gaye - Dus Kahaniyaan




KK enthralls his audience once again. Though a forgettable movie starring Aftab Shivdasani, the song is a haunting one. Very, very romantic.




  1. Tum Mile - Tum Mile




A classic song celebrating the rains in Mumbai. If you love Mumbai, you are bound to love this song. Neeraj Sridhar does a kamaal. Emran Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan look great together.




  1. Tum Se Hi Tum Se Hi - Jab We Met




Mohit Chauhan’s amazing voice, Preetam’s outstanding composition. Sizzling chemistry of Shaheed and Kareena. All of these factors add on to the charm of this song which is a fine poetry in itself too.
