You roam around for a couple of minutes on mouthshut and search for reviews on Shahrukh Khan, I’m sure you’ll find dozens and dozens of writers stressing on how monotonous and predictable he is. Please allow me to take a U-turn here !!
Aamir Khan, in my opinion, is just as repetitive and predictable as SRK. I see Aamir Khan in every role that he does, just like I see SRK in every role he plays. I see Aamir in Bhuvan, Aamir in Aakash, Aamir in Raja Hindustani and Amir in every other role. Dont get me wrong here - I think it is Aamir’s choice of movies that make him look different. He gets to play a rustic Bhuvan and a suave Aakash in the same year, for example - 2 drastically different characters, but who do I get to see on screen - Aamir Khan and Aamir Khan !!
I donot believe anybody can pass off as anybody else in this world without having a complete makeover. Human personality and our sense of perception is too strong for this to happen. And the only possible way to do it is if you are a non-entity. Aamir Khan will certainly feel wronged if I can call him a non-entity. Aamir Khan’s acting style comes in for a lot of praise - sometimes unworthy I feel. Yes, he does labour himself through roles with painstaking rehearsals and enormous stress on pseudo-perfection, and does end up with a high-quality product on most occasions.
Yeah, you heard me right there - ’’pseudo-perfection’’ !! I have no idea what else to call someone who prides himself on producing perfect products? Coz can perfection be achieved? Okie, lemme give ourselves some leeway here, and ask ’’can near-perfection be achieved?’’. Hmmm, interesting question. The only way to answer this is to pose a return question - ’’On what scale?’’. A better question, in my humblest of humble opinion, would be ’’On whose scale?’’. Perfection to one is probably trash to someone else.
