Now, this is one of the best Hindi movies I have seen in the recent past. Everything about this movie is AMAZING – the story, direction, acting, screenplay, editing, background score, music, and most importantly the Budget. This movie is a splendid answer to all those big banners that compete on making records by spending huge amounts of money on useless storylines/direction (read Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunri Mein Daag, and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna).
I could see all those awards raining on this film – best actor/debutant – Rajiv Khandelwal, best director - Rajkumar Gupta, best editing - Aarti Bajaj, best cinematographer - Alphonse Roy, and so on.
This is the story of an NRI-doctor who returns to India from London, only to become a puppet in the hands of destiny (or a reluctant participant in a dangerous game!!!!!!). As he runs from one end to the other in the seedy streets of Mumbai, you hold your breath and are lost into the story as to what is going to happen next? This is a thriller and there is not a single gory scene and bloodshed.
In certain scenes, the movie definitely sends chill down your spine – because you start to associate yourself with Aamir Ali and his pathetic situation. Particularly in that scene - the goons snatch the bag away from him and he breaks down.
There are not too many characters and the main characters - Rajiv Khandelwal and Gururaj – portray their characters well. The direction is simply superb and there are no lengthy dialogues and silly arguments. But, again nothing is out-of-place and you don’t find a single unnecessary scene in the movie. And atlast, here we have a movie which makes you think-think-think and then feel-feel-feel.
At the end of the movie and for hours after that, I was left thinking - what if this happens to me??? Is there an escape from such a situation??? How many heroes are made villains by the sensational reporting from our media???? Should we trust the reports in the media???
And last but not least, I found myself wondering --- is this the untold story of that NRI-doctor, who drove the bomb-laden car into the Glasgow Airport?????
This one is really a thought-provoking movie and one more thought comes to my mind –“ Kaun Kehta Hai, Aadmi Apni Kismat Khud Likhta Hai?”
