This weekend I was sure I had to watch a film...
BECAUSE all of 2008 I was waiting for some good films to release with Race **being the best film of this year till now you know how desperate I was for a better film... with the rains arriving in Mumbai we also heard a few good reviews on both the films released this Friday..
i. e. Sarkar Raj and **Aamir..
*I chose to watch Aamir first as I always like to support work done by new people...
Aamir is a brilliant attempt I must say...a different kind of filmmaking alltogether..the cinematography, direction, music, editing , acting everything was very fresh and new...
The best thing of the film is its great background score without it the film wouldnt have been so gripping as the film only revolves on one incident and to keep our audience glued to one incident and plot for the whole movie is not easy..but the background score and superb music has helped the film to biggest definable extent...Kudos to the musicians of the film....
The other noticeable thing in the film is its cinematgraphy and the unique way in which the film has been shot offcourse major chunk of the film is done with hidden cameras in real locations and that adds so much to the film and its theme....this is something which I have rarely seen in Hindi cinema before and it works for the film in so many ways..offcourse the performances came out so natural...the budget went down so much...and the locations were tapped so authentically....
The director of the film Rajkumar Gupta has done a brilliant job...and has given hope to so many young aspiring directors with this film that you can make a small cheap but a very good film which could show your skills to the world...He is the one who should be appreciated most for this whole effort..the pre production and post production of the film are the most important phases of this film unlike other films where the real shoot matters the most.....I have heard Gupta was Anurag Kashyaps Assistant and it shows in this film that he has learnt the craft so well from his mentor....10 out of 10 for the director...
Last but not the least Rajeev Khandelwal the main actor of this film...Well surprisingly despite of being an Ex Balaji actor he has done a very good job...He has suited the charecter very much has not gone overboard at all...And portrayed the charecter in avery subtle way...His real test starts now as now people have great expectations from him after this film as an actor..I hope he chooses the right kind of films which suit him and not attempt being a larger than life hero like evrybody else.....
I have heard the film is inspired by a foriegn film but I am sure not evryone in India has seen that film..and moreover Aamir has been done in a new setup and new culture...
Only one thing in this film was not upto my expectaion and that was the climax ..I was expecting a little too much I guess coz after such a huge hype thoroughout the film I was looking for more thrill and reasoning in the end...
All said and done its worth a watch....
Kudos to the team of Aamir...
